Hey there.

I have a 1953 BSA A10 golden flash (plunger frame) in my basement at the moment. I am in the process of restoring it. I bought it three years ago as a basket case for a $100.

Pete, I'd only really consider a sale for what I think people call a "stupid price" -- something considerably over actual market. I really like this machine and at the moment am not looking to sell unless I got an offer that made me sit down.

I bought my '59 A10 in august 1959, First bike I ever did the ton on, if you could believe the speedo reading vibrating between 108-110, on the A1 from Darlington to Catterick. Chin on the handlebars- Family jewels on the rear end of the seat. Eyes like organ stops when I realized I was running out of road at the round-a-bout outside the camp gates at RAF Catterick. Of course I made it, I drove it for a few years after emigrating here in '65, then took it off the road. The machine is now in my basement, awaiting restoration.Procrastination seems to be taking care of it at the moment....Dave.

Very beautiful picture ! I love too my A10 59 bought 1972, used a long time, forgotten in a barn and full restored 10 years ago. Now I use it only when the sun shine. I like the face of the people when they see a classic bike. My actual modern bike is a 1050 Triumph brand new for the long trips, but I will never forget when I was 20 my A10 drive me through France and Europe without troubles .

For Sid Sommers/// I am surprised more people do not know this trick , for engine install and removal. If the frame is pretty well striped down,(except wheels ) you lay the 135 pound engine on its side, shimming it all around as though it was in the frame (level) Then you lay the frame over the engine and line up some engine mounting holes , put a couple of bolts in, so they can not fall out, then just stand the frame up, and put it on the side stand, and finish bolting engine in. This is by far the simplest and easy way to do it, (center stand is better for finishing the assembly)

I had a 47 A7 SS in the 70's. Plus other classic BSA's. Lost them all during a vicious and long fought divorce battle with a X-wife's nasty lawyer. Don't regret getting rid of her, but, I still regret the loss of the A7 SS. The M20 was a nice bike too...

Looking to find both a restorative A7 and A10. Preferably pre units with plunger frames.

If you think a British motorcycle leaks and is a maintenance headache, try owning a Jaguar! I own a 84 XJS with a V12 engine.
It's always something!
